My cat knocks on the door with his head and demands Friskies. He will eat nothing else! He likes routine and knows he has rights. If I give too much attention to anything he will jump in front of it acting like he doesn't know what he is doing so he has my undivided attention. He's a pest but he's cute!

Dog Owners: Is your pet a Killer?
by restrangled inone of my dobermans today, dragged a tarp off a pile of wood we had covered.
sure enough there was a large pink nose sticking out of the pile.

You are way ahead in the game. There just wasn't Ef all to turn to for repreive in those days. I hate you.... Just kidding dude. Welcome to the board!

Do Jehovah's Witnesses crave an 'Amish Paradise'?
by Gill infrom as long as i remember the watchtower society has painted an idyllic rural scene for their future existence on the planet earth, free from the non jehovah servers that live now.. my mother regularly talks about her 'little donkey and cart' that she's going to own in the 'new system of things'.. so do the jehovah's witnesses dream of living in an 'amish paradise' minus the amish, of course?.
do they have any idea what kind of nightmare existence that entails, especially adding on top of that five meetings a week, continuing fs, studying etc?.

If they crave an Amish paradise they should be writing their watchtowers with a feather quills and homemade ink. They should also be doing there door to door work in horse and buggy. Ever notice there drawings of paradise. Whenever there's a beautiful chalet in the hillside they neglect to show the lumberyards, glass factories electrical component manufacturing co.'s and trucks that transport the raw materials and finished products to their destinations. Must be a lot of pollution in paradise.

Any way you slice it, it's a heartbreaker, she's so sweet looking and innocent. It must have been tough to make such a decision and sad. For the present, it may not seem a kind act, but the abscence of bed sores and easier mobility is a kindnes to both involved. Hopefully this decision will mean that she remains longer in the company of those that love there "little pillow angel". Sexual maturation will only lead to unfulfilled desire and more sadness, rendering menstruation pointless and making cleanliness an added discomfort again for both parties.

Do you still call it "the truth"?
by True North indo you find youself still calling it "the truth" even though you are an ex-jw?
for instance, in one posting i just read, the poster wrote "when i was in the truth..." .
not a big deal, perhaps, but really not such a good thing either as it's a habitual holdover from the program of mental conditioning we were subject to.

I stopped calling it the truth years ago and always correct someone when they use that term so loosely. There are many grey areas in life and things that can't be proven for lack of evidence.

Are you vindictive?
by free2beme inonce you left the witnesses, did you want some sort of revenge?
when you left relationships in your past, did you do something to harm the other person with words or actions?
when you left jobs, did you bad mouth your employer with a hope of harming him/her financially?

Vindictiveness is a fighting spirit and powerful motivating force if you don't let it poison you and direct it accordingly. Sometimes in reality though theres nothing to really strike at and it is a waste of time. If you beleive that this scene is all there is and nothing happens after you die, then these little pricks will walk away scott free and laugh while they're doing it. Now is the only chance you have to wipe that stupid smile off there faces and reclaim your dignity. At the same time you can spend a lifetime doing this to those that have wronged you. On the other hand if you beleive at the end of all this they will get theirs on the other side by god or whatever, you can adopt a lie down and take it attitude. Personally I don't get much satisfaction from the latter. Life can be veiwed as a series of lessons that you can learn from and not fall into these traps again, adding to your worldveiw if something positive is to come out of all the crap. The real tradgedy in life is continuing to make the same mistakes again and carrying the baggage with you which detracts from your enjoyment of life. Every situation is different and everyone gets dealt a different hand. Some people can be reasoned with and forgiven, others only understand a punch in the head. Whatever it takes. With the witnesses the problem never goes away when family is involved and they are immune to reasoning. This perpetuates the problem. Take comfort in knowing they are well hated by a great many people and they know it. They are already harming themselves we don't need to.

What's up with Islam?

Hi merry! I didn't think initially, this post topic would get this far. As an xjw I am resistant like many others to religion. Even if they were the true religion, which they are not, the shunning alone is enough for me. It is rare for a christian to convert to Islam. Even more rare for a jw to do so. We have a couple controversial examples ie John Walker linde, the American Taliban and Azzam the American. Surely, moderate people such as yourself do not wish assosciate with such extremism within your faith, anymore than the witnesses wish to be connected with a pedophile scandal. Is that a common veiw among the people you know within your realm of assosciation. I'm sure if Islam's goal is world domination your desire would be that it be accomplished with love. What one wants and what we see with religions however, can often be two different things. How can the same book be giving a different message to the people. This is where dissonance comes in. Despite the evidence we have before us we continue to tell ourselves the message is ok. I know an Iranian man that was muslim that became a christian and asked him why. He said all I can remember is that when I was young I saw the Brittish red cross helping and caring for people and could feel the love. Love can be a more powerful motivating force over doctrine any day. Certainly, a unique person such as yourself would have received an abundence of attention in your quest for knowledge. This is of course, is a recruitment method called love bombing, which is highly effective. This begs the question, if you ever decided to leave, how would you be veiwed or treated in response. If the answer is hostility, then I would suggest that your religion is more grounded in fear than love. Is it a cult? I don't know. I also don't know you, or what motivates you and those things are for you to decide. However, being in the position that you are in, you can serve as a valuable bridge to help understanding and tolerance between cultures doing so with love and not conversion in mind. The heart is what matters. Not doctrine.

Anyone have ever seen a ghost (spirit)?
by Nicolas inwhen i was going at the kingdom hall with my father (i was very young), it happened from time to time that the subject of spirits entered in the conversation.
then at this point, it seemed that everyone had their own little story to tell about the spirits of the devils.. .
personnally, i'm always skeptic about these things and i won't believe it until i see it.

That's freakin unreal man. That really peaks my curiosity. Do you have any theory's. Do you think it was evil. I always had a suspicion of energies in dojo's and fighters. It was either called, or is atracted to the energy of the dojo. Are you taught anything ritualistic in these classes. I can't beleive something like that would appear in front of so many people. Wasn't anybody curiuos to investigate this phenomenon or was there more of a trance like atmospere.

I just finished reading your topic post on "My haunted office" It seems you are another fellow who has visually experienced floating orbs and audio paranormal phenomenon. I suspect that that mormon lady took that energy with her when she left if you no longer are experiencing these things. It strikes me as strange that neither her nor you were scared out of your wits. Maybe like the above post of the man who spoke with the orb that he witnessed it didn't give off a bad vibe. Myself I know these things exist and some of them are very evil. I have no desire to ever experience these things again. Beleive it or not some of this phenomenon is recorded in sound, in pictures and on video. All the bullshit has been weeded out and given serious consideration for hoaxes, camera tricks etc. What is left is chilling and unexplainable. Again I say check out secret crypt .com it's worth it!

These floating orbs are worthy of mention. Check out secret crypt.com. I have seen them in some of my photographs at the Y where countles homeles and invalid people have died. Some of these orbs in photgraphs can be mistaken for camera defects or other phenomenon in lighting and photography such as dust, snow etc. There are however what I beleive to genuine orbs that exist. I do not discount your expereince. Howvever I have never heard of someone able to see this in there own presence nor have I heard of someone communicating with them. Very interesting. Perhaps you have some dead relatives that are watching your back. If you have talked to them you are obviously not getting a bad vibe.
